Scholarship Information
Scholarship applicants must read the following information before beginning the application
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant:
has an earned doctoral degree in medicine or biomedical sciences and completed a minimum of two years post doctoral training
has documented scientific record that includes peer-reviewed publications
is not currently active in the HIV field
has received his/her doctoral degree within the last five years
Scholarship Information
Scholarship recipients will receive the following benefits to attend IAS 2009:
Conference registration fee (includes access to all sessions and exhibitions)
Air travel (pre-paid ticket at the lowest fare available, from the nearest international airport)
Accommodation (single room in a hotel for the days of the conference)
Opportunity to attend a one day seminar / workshop with leading HIV scientists to gain valuable insight into the field of HIV
Opportunity to attend a workshop on how to submit a grant proposal to the U.S. National Institutes of Health
Opportunity to attend daily mentoring sessions and meet with leading scientists in the HIV field
The Application
The application system will allow you to cut and paste information from a word processing document in to the different data fields of the form. Some fields limit the number of characters you can enter. Please read the instructions carefully.
The following questions may require advanced preparation:
Briefly summarize your current research projects (approximately 300 words).
Briefly explain your motivation for attending the 5th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Prevention and Treatment in Cape Town in July, 2009 (approximately 100 words).
Explain how your current research and/or training could be applied to HIV research in the future (approximately 300 words).
If you begin the application but do not finish, an email will be sent to the email address you provide. A link will be included in the email which will allow you to resume the application where you left off.
Correspondence
Correspondence between the IAS/NIH Program and applicants will be done primarily by email. Therefore you must have a valid personal e-mail address that you regularly check.
