This satellite session aims to inform delegates the current state of the art for HIV/TB research priorities in order to enhance networking, scientific efforts and interest. It will include communication of key findings and outcomes from a pre-Conference meeting on "Catalysing HIV/TB Research : innovation, funding and networking" that will be held before the Conference and organized by the World Health Organization, International AIDS Society and other partners: the Consortium to Respond Effectively to the AIDS/TB Epidemic (CREATE), Treatment Action Group and the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre of University of Cape Town. The satellite session will summarize key findings regarding ongoing research activities, challenges, gaps and priorities in HIV/TB research in the four following areas: TB prevention, childhood TB /HIV, TB drug resistance and HIV, and TB diagnosis and treatment.
